The International André Le Nôtre Award


Rules





PURPOSE

The International André Le Nôtre Award is the highest distinction awarded in France recognising a landscape architect's contribution over their entire career.


ORGANISATION
The International André Le Nôtre Award was created by the joint trade organisation Val'hor at the initiative of the French Federation of Landscape to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the birth of AndréLe Nôtre as part of the Rencontres André Le Nôtre conference at Versailles. It will be awarded every two years from 2013.


ELIGIBILITY
The award is open to any landscape architect from anywhere in the world. The award recognizes a landscape architect for their entire career: design, project management, research & publications, education, and artistic production.


CANDIDATE SELECTION
Applications may be submitted by any person or entity other than the candidate when they have the qualities to do so as a peer, project owner, or a duly recognised person. A person may only present one application.
The Jury reserves the right to accept or refuse applications. It will inform candidates of their nomination in order for them to accept or refuse the proposal to participate in the selection.


APPLICATION CONSTITUTION
Candidate sponsors must confirm their interest by sending in an application constituted of the following documents:
First...

  • A cover letter and a CV listing the main activities, missions, achievements, and providing references to the candidate's main publications. The application must be written in either French or English using the appended template. It can be sent by post or by email to the address mentioned in the Article "Contact".

Then, following nomination...

  • An illustrated description of main achievements and a summary or excerpt of key publications.

CRITERIA
The Jury will judge according to the following criteria:


  • Original contribution to landscape design and recognition, the landscaping initiative, the training of future professionals, and innovation production Ability to develop and implement a project with all stakeholders, including project management, and the various trades in the profession.

JURY MEMBER

  • The International André Le Nôtre Award's Jury is constituted of representatives of the industry's trade organisations, representatives of public authorities, and qualified people due to their ability to judge an entire career. (it has an uneven number of members)
* The Chairman of Val'hor or his representative
* The President of the French Federation of Landscape Architects or their representative
* The mayor of the city hosting the award ceremony.
* The Minister of the Environment
* The Minister of Agriculture
* The Minister of Culture
* The President of the Green City think tank circle
* The President of the IFLA or their European representative...
  • All these people are highly qualified and will be selected by the Joint Trade Association's Chairman for each competition.

JURY PROCEDURES
The jury will draw up a list of candidates from the nominations received.
For the final choice, following deliberation, each member of the jury will score each candidate and the winner is the one with the best average.


PRIZE MONEY
Prize money of 15,000€ (fifteen thousand Euros) is contributed by the joint trade organisation Val'hor.


AWARD CEREMONY
The award ceremony will be held at Versailles on the 2 or 3 July 2013 during the Rencontres André Le Nôtre Le Nôtre conference.

Applications must be presented by a sponsor who will confirm their interest, after having

AWARD
Sponsors must submit a complete application presenting the nominees:
  • An illustrated description of their main achievements in the form of a separate sheet including the following for each achievement:
. A photograph
. A graphic document
. A brief presentation of the project
  • An Education and Research CV
  • A list of main publications including a few key excerpts.
